Discover how traditional fishing life is still alive and kicking in the heart of Vietnam. On the Fisherman and the Waterways of a Past War Tour you won’t only be able to see traditional Vietnamese fishermen hard at it upfront, you will also get a chance to experience hands-on what it’s like to practice these ancient fishing methods. The tour also includes a didactical angle, whereby you will learn about a past war that once ravaged this scenery and left scars that are still visible to this day.

On this tour you will live a number of local experiences not any amount of sight-seeing can match. Let the locals teach you traditional fishing techniques that have been passed forward from fathers to sons for ages. You also get the chance to paddle the curious Vietnamese bamboo basket boats. Once you’ve got the hang of it and are able to safely remain bobbing on the waters, head off to explore the calm waterways, a beautiful entourage surrounded by huge coconut palms.

These waterways offer a historical experience, for it was in these canals that the Vietcong hid and fought against the Americans in a war that unfortunately happened not too long ago. Many locals are still able to relate to you the memories of how they survived that nightmarish episode.
