Excursion a Vejer & Kap Trafalgar

To the south you will find the white village of Vejer de la Frontera. Vejer is a quaint, historic town surrounded by beautiful countryside, and has been awarded several times with the accolade of ‘City of Historical and Artistic Interest’ as being one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. Vejer, has steep streets that wind through the whitewashed houses with geranium-filled balconies and hidden courtyards.

During a walk, you will pass through the Spanish Square, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful ‘plazas’ in all of Spain. In the center of the square is an old tiled fountain with traditional ceramic frogs spraying water into the centre.

The church "El Divino Salvador" is like so many churches, built on the ruins of an ancient mosque. The house of the Count of Tamaron is an old building which is now the cultural centre.

The city walls and arches are still well intact and you can still pass through several of them, such as the ‘Arco de la Villa’ or ‘Puerta de Sancho IV’.

After a guided city tour and some free time, you will head back to resort, passing through the nature park of ‘La Breña’, with the most beautiful pine forest in the province. You will also see the renowned Cape Trafalgar, where on the 21st October 1805 the famous naval battle took place between the British and the French and Spanish allies. On a clear day you can see Morocco and the Strait of Gibraltar.
