This tour will take you to 3 of the most important Dominica order places in Oaxaca, starting with SANTO DOMINGO YANHUITLÁN. This beautiful place which name in Mixtec means "The New Llano". Here you can admire the Temple and former convent of Santo Domingo, set that, at the time, was the second largest order of the Dominica in the Oaxaca region. Today, it is one of the most outstanding examples of new Spain architecture of the sixteenth century. Then you will know, Saint Peter and Paul Teposcolula.
The Dominicans settled here in 1541, starting soon after building a fabulous religious complex with a magnificent open chapel which is one of the most important works of the sixteenth century in New Spain. Note that this chapel had two choirs, one for singers and one for musicians. At the time, the chapel was decorated with an altarpiece by the painters Andrés de la Concha and Andrés Pereyns of those few works are preserved inside the temple.
Finally you will visit SAN JUAN BAUTISTA Coixtlahuaca, Its decoration, mainly outside the temple, presents very original features, along with magnificent sculptures, among which the assembly formed by San Juan Bautista, flanked by St. Peter and St. James and a series of shell-shaped niches, large rosettes, medallions and symbols of passion.
