The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world. Speculations on the reason why it was built range from human sacrifice to astronomy. Now, a World Heritage Site, Stonehenge remains a focal point in the surrounding landscape and keeps attracting thousands of visitors every year.
