You’ll see how Chania really lights up at night on this walking tour. Starting at the old Venetian walls, your guide will fill you in on the city’s past. The walls border narrow streets, which are lit up with traditional tavernas and shops selling homemade trinkets. And you’ll have a chance to meet the local craftsmen and pick up souvenirs, before waving goodbye to dry land for a quick boat trip. You’ll head to the island of Theodorou, which is now a dedicated conservation area for the endangered Cretan goat, the Krikri. Once used as a fortress to protect the Venetians from pirates and invading Turks, it’s only inhabited by goats and the occasional visitor. After, it’s back to Chania for dinner in one of the famous waterfront restaurants. Then, there’s some time to wander the city’s criss-crossed lanes and take in its blend of Venetian and Turkish architecture.
