Cappadocia, UNESCO World Heritage Site and unique in the world, is truly a must-see and a 'once in a lifetime' experience. Ancient volcanic eruptions, wind and water formed a fairy tale landscape of cones, pillars, pinnacles, and mushroom and fairy chimneys. The area was inhabited by Christian communities between the 10th and 13th centuries AD and evidence of their churches and beautiful, religious frescoes are a key attraction in the area as well as the underground cities built at these times to hide from invading armies.
During the journey, the tour will also visit Konya to see the Mevlana Museum, the mausoleum of a Sufi mystic and also the dervish lodge of the Mevlevi order, better known as the whirling dervishes; an example of their dervish dance can be seen in the evening at the Turkish Night. Famous for its’ wine and pottery, there are opportunities to purchase these souvenirs of Cappadocia during the tour with visits to a workshop and wine factory.
