This ticket will take you to the less-travelled west coast, for a whistle-stop tour of Crete’s most photo-worthy sights. There’s a museum inside with a great collection of rare books or you can pick up homemade wine and olive oil from the monks. The next stop is at the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Souda Bay. It’s nestled in a quiet spot surrounded by olive groves and sea, and it’s where 1,500 servicemen were laid to rest after the Second World War. Next, you can see the resting place of the first Greek Prime Minister, Eleftherios Venizelos, while taking in the views over Chania. After, you’ll head to Aptera to explore the remains of the ancient city. You’ll finish up with lunch along the waterfront in laid-back Kalives.
