A 2-day package visiting magnificent historical sites from both the ancient world and the 1st World War. Departing from Izmir and finishing in Istanbul.
DAY 1: IZMIR - PERGAMON - CANAKKALE.
Pick up from your hotel or Izmir airport and drive to Pergamon, approximately a 2 hour journey depending on traffic. The earliest surviving mention of this ancient city dates from the 4th century BC but it reached its’ height of greatness under Roman rule when the number of inhabitants reached 200,000. Visit the Acropolis, the Temple Of Athena, the famous Library, the Royal Palaces, the Temple Of Trojan, the steepest Theatre of the world, the Temple Of Dionysos, the Altar Of Zeus (Seat of Satan), and the view of the Red Basilica (St. John’s church). Lunch in town. Visit the ruins of Asclepion (Medical Center of the ancient world). Proceed to your hotel after the tour. Overnight in Canakkale.
DAY 2: CANAKKALE - TROY - ISTANBUL.
Early morning departure to Troy, the site of King Priam and the Trojan Horse. Referred to in Homer's "Iliad" and "Odyssey", Troy has in fact nine cities superimposed one upon another. Troy Vl pertains to the famous Trojan War of Homer where the legendary heroes including Agamemnon, Achilleus, Ulysses, Nestor, Priamus, Hector and Paris. Proceed to Istanbul. The tour visits the Megaron Houses, a small Roman theatre, the bouleuterion, city walls, small museum and of course the reconstructed Trojan horse.
Meeting/pick-up point: Hotel pick-up.
Start/opening time: At 8:30am approximately.
End/closing time: At 7pm approximately, on 2nd day.
