See two Japanese national treasures in just one day with this tour to Zenko-ji Temple and the one and only Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano.

From Nagano we depart to one of few remaining pilgrimage sites in Japan - Zenko-ji Temple. Founded in the 7th century, it’s one of the fine temples famous for both its vast size and history dating back 1,400 years. We enjoy lunch here before departing to the next national treasure on the itinerary.
Jigokudani Yaen-koen (monkey park) is where seeing is believing! Watch in awe as wild Japanese snow monkeys unwind in the hot springs in a place that has become internationally renowned. Take a snap of the monkeys behaving mischievously before it’s your turn to relax in the hot springs at Hotel Suimeikan. Enjoy the hot waters of the famous Yudanaka Onsen, one of Japan's most famous hot springs, complete with saunas, rooms to relax in, foot baths and abundant hot springs that continually pump out 2,200 litres of fresh water. Truly relax before we start our return journey back to Nagano.
Meeting point/ Pick-up location:
Meet up with the interpreter-guide and participants of the round-trip from Nagano course (the meeting time may vary depending on the reservation status for Shinkansen trips departing from Tokyo).
Duration: 7 hours approximately.
Opening days/period: 2016 Nov 25 – 2017 Mar 31 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and 16, 19, 21, 23 February 2017. Except 26, 28, 30 December 2016, January 2, 4 and March 20, 2017.
Start/opening time: 9:35am. Please ensure you arrive at the start point at least 15 minutes prior to the tour start time.
End/closing time: At 4:30pm.
Drop-off location: Nagano Station. Please head to your next destination on your own after the tour.
Languages: English. An English-speaking interpreter-guide will accompany the tour from arrival at JR Nagano Station until tour ends at JR Nagano Station.
Includes: The meal for lunch includes soba (buckwheat) noodles, a Nagano specialty.
Not Included: A JPY 250 admission fee to Jigokudani Monkey Park is required separately for each 5-year-old child on this tour. Please pay in cash at the location.
Dress code: The outdoor temperature at Jigokudani Monkey Park is typically about 10 degrees Celsius colder than Tokyo. Bringing warm clothing and gloves is recommended.
Others: Train tickets and final itinerary will be sent to your hotel one day prior to departure.
As the space is limited in the Shinkansen, trains and buses, please leave large luggage such as suitcases in your accommodation on the day prior to the tour.
Times and routes in the itinerary may be changed due to timetable adjustments for Shinkansen, trains, and buses.
As public transportation will be used in Nagano Prefecture, seating on trains and buses is non-reserved. Seating is not guaranteed.
As traces of buckwheat flour may be present in the entire shop, those with buckwheat allergy may be unable to enter.
The behavior of wild monkeys cannot be predicted. The park will be closed to visitors in case the monkeys do not come down to the park from the mountains. In this case, the tour will be cancelled.
