A city of over 1,000 Buddhist temples, come and discover Japan’s former ancient capital with a full day tour from Nagoya.

Hop aboard the famous bullet train from Nagoya to Kyoto for a day discovering the sights and sounds of Kyoto. Arrive in the former ancient capital to begin a tour of the many temples and palaces that adorn the city. We start at the World Heritage Nijo Castle whose flamboyant style and sublime gardens are bound to impress. Then head to the striking Kinkaku-ji Temple, known as the Golden Pavilion for its sparkling exterior, and Kyoto Imperial Palace. Take a break and have lunch before restarting your whirlwind tour of Kyoto.

After lunch we go to Heian Jingu Shrine, built to celebrate the 1110th anniversary of Kyoto’s founding, its characteristic red architecture makes this an impressive sight to behold.

Meeting/pick-up point: Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel 2nd floor lobby.
Duration: 12 hours and 20 minutes.
Start/opening time: At 7:10am.
End/closing time: At 7:30pm.
Drop off location: Nagoya Station. Please head to your next destination on your own from Nagoya Station.
Languages: English. An English-speaking guide will accompany the tour only during sightseeing in the city of Kyoto. The assistant from JTB will guide participants to and from the Marriott Hotel to Nagoya Station, and from Kyoto Station to the New Miyako Hotel.
Included: This bargain travel package to Kyoto includes Shinkansen (bullet train) tickets for a round-trip from Nagoya and sightseeing in the ancient capital.
Others: Nijo Castle - closed on Tuesdays in January, July, August, and December (Closed on the following day if Tuesday is a holiday.) If closed, or if the tour is during the year-end/New Year's holidays, Ryoan-ji Temple will be visited instead.
Kyoto Imperial Palace - On Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed. On these days, the tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead. (Mondays, Tuesday if Monday is a national holiday, May 14-17 for the Aoi Festival, New Year's holidays, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event). The tour will visit Nishi Hongan-ji Temple instead of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine on September 25 and December 25.
Heian Shrine - During the Jidai Festival on October 22, Heian Jingu Shrine is closed to the public and will be replaced in the itinerary by Chishaku-in Temple. If the Jidai Festival is postponed, we will follow suit with the itinerary change. This tour will not enter Heian Jingu Shrine's Shin-en garden.
